Tragic News on UPS Crash: Fatalities Increases to 13

The tally of victims resulting from the transport jet that ignited and crashed has risen to 13, according to recent statements.

Mayor's Statement

“On my way to the Union’s vigil, I learned of a thirteenth victim that lost their life as a result of the UPS flight 2976 crash,” expressed the city mayor in a online message. “My heart is with the families, companions and co-workers of all who were killed in this recent tragedy. We will overcome this as one.”

Casualties Identified

A release from UPS listed the officers operating the aircraft as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.

“Our hearts are extended to each staff member who has been touched and everyone in our community region – assisting you and ensuring you receive the attention and resources you need is our focus,” the organization’s statement stated.

Probe Updates

Federal officials announced that the UPS cargo plane’s wing ignited and an power plant separated just after departure from the aviation hub, leading to the plane to crash and explode into a blaze.

The safety agency announced it is examining the aircraft’s upkeep logs, that was in Texas for repairs weeks prior to the incident.

Aviation data showed the jet was on the runway in San Antonio, Texas from 3 September to mid-October.

“We are knowledgeable that this aircraft was present in the facility,” remarked an NTSB member on the following day, without providing a exact time frame. “We will examine all elements of service that was done, even the Texas time, all the way to the day of the journey.”

Retrieval of Vital Items

The cockpit voice recorder and data recorder were recovered, and the engine was discovered on the airfield.

The units – known as black boxes – were constructed to withstand crash impacts and intense heat from fires, and they appeared to be intact when found amid the crash debris. Authorities plan on analyzing data from the black boxes.

The plane’s final data recordings indicated an altitude of 475 ft and a rate of that speed ahead of the crash.

Maintenance Background

According to FAA records dated last month, a crack on a part within the tank area required maintenance.

Headquartered in Singapore ST Engineering, which stated it offers airframe maintenance for UPS’s MD-11 and operates a service location in that city, declined to comment, but said it would assist completely when investigators approached it.

Services Continue

At the same time, UPS Worldport operations resumed last night with its Next Day Air also known as nighttime operation, representative the company official stated. Each of the three runways at the aviation hub were also open again.

The distribution hub in this location is the firm’s biggest. The center hires more than a large number of workers in the area, handles 300 aircraft per day and organizes in excess of 400,000 packages each hour.

Public Reaction

A memorial was conducted on the evening of 6 November by the local labor union, which acts for staff at the Louisville airport, the organization’s primary air cargo hub.

Worker representatives, which supports UPS workers, commenced the vigil with a quiet tribute at 5.14pm, the rough time of the accident two days earlier.

“This tragedy was so sudden, so unexpected,” the leader addressed the assembly of 200. “No one had a chance to bid farewell to any one of those who we have lost.”
