The duo are returning as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. Speculation suggests their cameos will take the form of a flash-forward sequence, considering the original saga concluded with their characters settled into family life.

Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a 2025 novel by author Suzanne Collins. It serves as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who directed nearly all the previous films in the series.
