A person who contaminated treats with sedative and distributed them to minors at a summer program in the region has admitted sexual offenses against two boys who were between nine and ten.

Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight minors and one adult became sick at the location in the summer month.

The senior citizen, from that region, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he denied one particular crime he was facing, which was concerning a young boy.

Ruben was remanded in custody before a subsequent court date on late November.

'Candy game'

The legal representative, handling the case, detailed Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.

She said his targets were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer camp which he managed.

The man engaged in a "sweet game" with the minors, the prosecutor said, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were settling down and ask them to consume candy "rapidly".

She stated to the judge Ruben had conducted this practice with the boys "over an extended period", and children had earlier experienced illness the next day.

She stated the man had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had suspicions in July 2025.

The prosecutor stated further: "Recently" his stepchild had suspicions about the activities, for good reason.

"They decided to investigate in the man's possessions."

The legal counsel explained materials including baby oil, ointment and medical needles were located, and his stepchild notified the police about his suspicions.

She explained Ruben went on to play the "sweet game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the next day.

"The police had not arrived by that point," she continued.

The regulatory agency, the investigative body, had stated that it was investigating the police response of the events.

The legal representative said the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the stepson contacted the authorities a second time.

She stated the defendant then played the "sweet game" in a area of five children.
