A woman charged with harassing Kate McCann reportedly left her a phone message which asked: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, 24, who court testimony revealed has repeatedly declared she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are standing trial accused with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, the tribunal heard communication data and information obtained from phones documented Ms Wandelt persistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a DNA test during that period.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a trip in Portugal - is considered the most covered missing child cases and continues to be unresolved.

'I Do Not Need Money'

A separate recorded message, played in court, captured Ms Wandelt stating: "I understand I'm heavy and unattractive like Madeleine was, but I feel what I feel."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's answerphone said: "Imagine there is a tiny probability that I'm her? Then what? Wouldn't that be crucial for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I have a living here in Poland, I only wish to discover," the message continued.

The tribunal was advised that through emails, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt asked for a biological test, sent youth pictures to her phone in a attempt to demonstrate a likeness to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and stated to have "flashbacks" from a youth with the McCanns.

The investigator, an intelligence analyst with law enforcement who collated the evidence, informed the court there "seemed to lack any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore reached out to family friends of the McCanns, as per the communication logs.

On 9 October 2024, Gerry McCann responded to a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "incorrect contact information."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt left a message on Mrs McCann's voicemail saying "I won't give up and I will prove my claim."

The court heard Mrs Spragg struck up a connection via internet with Ms Wandelt prior to accompanying her on a visit to the McCanns' residence in that area in that winter.
